Life's Not Fair?

Good afternoon and welcome back to this afternoon's blog. It seems crazy that I started the blog six whole weeks ago - time really does fly when you're not doing anything and fed up with Covid! Usually my blogs are quite long, wordy and well thought out and planned. Not today. This is going to sound like more of a passionate rant (trust me a ranting Connor is never a good thing)! However, this is a subject I feel very strongly about and would love to hear your opinions on the topic too. This blog won't make a lot of sense without a bit of background information, so here's the back story and the inspiration to today's blog.  I have a friend. Well actually I have lots of friends (you don't need to feel too sorry for me). Excuse me for not using her name, but I respect people's confidentiality, unlike some people (AMAZON). That's another story! She is genuinely one of the kindest, most generous and well organised people I know. She always has a massive smil...

It only took 30 years!

Good afternoon and welcome back to this afternoon's blog. I hope you are all keeping safe during this time. Just when we thought Covid-19 was difficult enough, the weather Gods decide to send some extreme temperatures our way. I feel for everyone who is working in an outdoor environment where it is impossible to get any shelter from the heat. This is one of those times where an office job in a pleasantly, air conditioned space sounds appealing. For those of you who are confused by the title of this blog, it can be summarised in three simple words, Liverpool are champions! Now as most of you should know (and if you don't I assume this is your first time reading my blogs) I am not a Liverpool fan. Above that, I do not like how Liverpool fans generally conduct themselves, nor am I a fan of Jurgen Klopp prancing up and down the touchline like a clown in the circus. However, that is as far as my personal views are going to go. I want to take this chance to reflect on one of the most...

Love Yourself

Good afternoon everyone and thank you for coming back to this afternoon's blog. During this period of continued uncertainty we are living in, it is becoming increasingly easier to feel down about everything. We can start to feel useless that we can't do anything to help this global pandemic. We might feel under increasing pressure from work to get our jobs done with limited time and resources. And for some of us, the boredom of no work at all or self isolation continues. I believe that it is in these challenging times that we must learn to love ourselves and truly appreciate what we are worth. It is too easy for us to be negative about ourselves. I know I always see the bad in myself and need others to point out my strengths (guys anything you love about me feel free to leave in the comments below). To help us to do this, I have compiled a list of ways that we can see our best selves. I have previously mentioned keeping a diary or a journal, but have a note book for writing dow...

Declutter Your Mind

Hello and welcome back to this afternoon's blog. With so much going on in the world at the moment, it is easy for your mind to become frazzled to the point that you don't know what you're thinking. You can become restless and easily unfocused and unable to concentrate on simple everyday tasks. This leads to a very busy and cluttered mind. Lots of people suffer from various mental health issues and need to keep things simple and their mind clear of 'junk'. Maybe you are worrying about the future, the past or the present. Do you keep your entire to-do-list in your head? Are you stressed dealing with problems and complaints at work? There are so many ways your mind can become like a London train during rush hour (for those non-Londoners, it's not fun). But how do we declutter our minds..? Start by decluttering the physical environment you live in. Tidy everything from your desk at work to your bedroom and garage. Walking into a room and seeing things all over the f...

Project Restart

Good afternoon and welcome back to another blog. Before I get into today's topic, my first blog 'This Is Me' has just surpassed 400 views! I never expected anywhere near so many this quickly so thank you so much to everyone who has taken time out their day to read it. I hope you learned something about me that you didn't already know. As you can probably tell from the title, this is one for the football fans out there. The Premier League returns on Wednesday and I for one am buzzing. Three months without any live football has really taken it's toll at times. Rather than the deep thinking, philosophical blog, this will be my opinions on football restarting and might even turn into a rant (I do like a rant now and again). If you're not a football lover, please take the time to read on anyway and share this link with your football friends. I would love to get a good debate going down in the comments. First, a bit of background information. I'm an Arsenal fan. M...

Who Wants To Live Forever?

Hello and welcome back to today's blog as we continue to live in ever changing, unprecedently difficult times. Please keep following the rules and guidance, and if you do leave the house for whatever reason, stay alert. This is another thought-provoking, deep philosophical blog that will probably leave you with more questions than answers (I got very confused planning this one). Have you ever been there thinking about what happens after you die (I do that way too much)? Well what if we didn't have to ask ourselves that. What if we could live forever? I realise this sounds crazy and, frankly, impossible. However, there are scientists researching this all the time. Currently our cells in our body degenerate (the ageing process), but researchers are trying to slow down that cell degeneration process or stop it entirely - hence the title of this blog. Before I get started I want to throw a disclaimer out there. I am not a scientist. If I get any facts slightly off then please do no...

Negative Drama

Good afternoon and welcome to today's blog. I hope you and your families are continuing to stay safe during this continued period of difficulty and uncertainty. Today I will be reflecting upon an incident that I was involved in last week, how it came about and how to prevent future situations of a similar nature. So essentially (and this is a very basic summary) a friend of mine was being indirectly attacked and when I stood up for them, all hell broke loose. Literally. Imagine World War 3 times a bazillion (I'm sure I haven't made that number up). And who was at fault? That's right. Me. I stand up for a friend and I am in the wrong. Actually it wasn't just me 'in the wrong'. As you might have figured out by now, I love a good Taylor Swift reference, so here's another. There was a lot of 'bad blood' that night. Somebody made a really deep cut and they definitely can't fix it (for those non Swifties you're probably thinking "What on E...

Past Lives

Good afternoon. Welcome to this afternoon's blog. I hope you have been enjoying reading my posts so far. Today I am venturing down a slightly different road (no not the M25). Recently I have been thinking about my past. I've been reflecting on all the key events in my life from when I first learned to walk (trust me baby Connor was super cute), when I first went to Nursery, Primary school and Secondary school, and all the way up to where I am today (actually writing a blog laying on the floor isn't that exciting). Sometimes I remember those memories vividly. Obviously I've been there before in that exact time and place. I've lived all those experiences. But do you ever sometimes get the feeling you've lived a moment before that you clearly haven't? Do you feel like you want to be somewhere else, or should be living in a different time? Well, what if we have all lived before? What if this is our second or even third chance at life? Have we ever had past lives...

Believe In Yourself

"I'm horrendous at reports".  A seemingly meaningless message one night on a WhatsApp group chat but one that completely inspired this blog. It got me thinking. Why are we always so positive towards other people but so negative towards ourselves. You're thinking about it now aren't you? (don't lie to me). But it's true. Two people wearing exactly the same outfit. They look at each other. They both say "Wow you look amazing" or "You style that so much better than I do". It's just human instinct. Always looking for faults in ourselves. Always jealous of what other people have rather than appreciating what we have or what we can do. Everyone is different and unique. The world would be boring otherwise. Just remember to believe in yourself. If you don't, why should anyone else? I believe there are three main ways that we can do this. The first of these is to nurture the positive views that we have worked so hard to accomplish. Think...
