Life's Not Fair?

Good afternoon and welcome back to this afternoon's blog. It seems crazy that I started the blog six whole weeks ago - time really does fly when you're not doing anything and fed up with Covid! Usually my blogs are quite long, wordy and well thought out and planned. Not today. This is going to sound like more of a passionate rant (trust me a ranting Connor is never a good thing)! However, this is a subject I feel very strongly about and would love to hear your opinions on the topic too. This blog won't make a lot of sense without a bit of background information, so here's the back story and the inspiration to today's blog.

I have a friend. Well actually I have lots of friends (you don't need to feel too sorry for me). Excuse me for not using her name, but I respect people's confidentiality, unlike some people (AMAZON). That's another story! She is genuinely one of the kindest, most generous and well organised people I know. She always has a massive smile on her face and she always makes a point of listening and trying to help those who need advice. I can hear you asking "What has this got to do with the title of this blog?" Well, she lives in a single bedroom studio flat in Worthing. She works ridiculously hard every day, and what does she have to show for it? A cardboard box acting as a bed-side table. Beanbags acting as chairs. If there is one person on this planet who deserves better than that, it's her. But no. She can't have anymore. And why can't she have anymore...

People are lazy (sounds harsh but true). Some people put in no work at school, spend no time revising for exams, and therefore fail all their exams. They stand zero chance of being successful in life. But wait a minute. Their parents are rich, multi-millionaires who have their own company. And the lazy little (I'll get banned if I say it) gets made President or CEO or goodness knows what else that pays a zillion pounds a day (tad excessive I realise - but you get my point). Somebody like that is a waste of human resources and the Earth's precious oxygen. You should earn everything you get in life, not have it handed to you on a sliver plate (Coldplay reference today - giving Taylor a break). Or you get people that drop out of school, basically flunk everything in their lives, then get caught up in a gang. They start dealing drugs, committing crime and generally causing trouble for the police. Then what happens? They get arrested and put in prison...

Which for some reason are unbelievably luxurious! I mean you've been found guilty of murder and sentenced to 35 years in prison, not 35 years in a 5 start, all-inclusive luxury hotel with a private butler! A TV screen, PlayStation, XBOX, pool tables, table football games just to name a few. What is wrong with our justice system? This is! Let me ask you this (I would appreciate answers in the comments). Would you rather be living homeless on the street with absolutely nothing or nobody to look out for you? Or would you prefer to rob a bag of sweets from your local corner shop, plead guilty in a Court of Law, and be sentenced to time living the life of luxury? I know which I'd prefer (don't worry Tesco your chocolate buttons are safe). I can hardly blame anyone for trying to get themselves locked up.

Now although you won't know the person who I referred to at the start (if you do please keep her identity a secret), imagine being in her position. You work all day and at 5pm you get to go home to eat dinner off a bean bag and balance your glass of water at night on a piece of cardboard. You tell me how this is fair. Go on I dare you (just as I thought - you can't). Life is simply not fair. And if it was then the world would be a much better and happier place. Those who work hard and care for others would get the top jobs and be happy. Those who flunked school and broke the law would be locked in a cell like you see on TV. You know the ones with absolutely nothing in. Like it should be!

I may joke about buying her a table for her birthday or an IKEA voucher for Christmas, but truly she deserves so much more than just a fully furnished studio flat by the sea. She deserves genuine happiness. And if you're reading this (you know who you are) then you can always ask me for help at any time and I will do everything in my power to make your life happier and more purposeful.

Rant over.

Connor
