Life Update

Good afternoon and welcome back to this afternoon's blog. Today I wanted to give you an update about me, my life and generally what is going on in the life of Connor (still no mic drop moments - sorry)! It feels like years ago since I got this blog up and running, and it is a very frightening thought realising that it is only a matter of months. They say time flies when you're having fun, which I suppose is slightly more true now than it was for the majority of the year (wonder why that was)? Anyway, here we go. The life of Connor - August 2020...

Let's get the obvious event of the year out the way first (and no I won't say the word - I like my blog thank you). The good news is I'm fine, my family are fine and everyone I know are fine. The bad side, well, life still isn't back to normal. Although the pubs and restaurants are open, there is obviously distancing measures still in place, changing the experience customers have. Sitting in a pub reminds me of sitting in a doctors surgery waiting to be called (if you work in a doctors surgery I am very sorry for you). Going to Tesco and seeing everyone wearing face coverings still doesn't feel right, although at least they have removed the one-way systems now so I can go straight to the cake aisle! The golf courses are still open and competitions have resumed which is making me really happy. For those keen golfers who read these, it's going rather well. Still an 11 handicap, but a win last week in an 80 player field, followed up by a singles knockout win this weekend. Right, enough depression, onto happier times...

Football is back! Arsenal won the FA Cup! And the new season starts in just 2 weeks time! Oh yeah, and Arsenal are going to win the Community Shield on Saturday (well, fingers crossed). Hopefully fans will be allowed back in the stadiums from October as this part of the beautiful game is not the same. Players thrive off the noise created by the fans, and celebrating the winning goal in a cup final sitting in a socially distanced bar with 20 people isn't the same (trust me Chelsea fans, it ain't)! It's not just football though. For those of you who are cricket fans, the domestic T20 competition commences next week. A Friday night, 25,000 sell-out at The Kia Oval is difficult to beat for a sporting atmosphere! Rugby, golf, snooker, darts and many others are also desperate for fans to return. When they do, nobody will enjoy it more than the players!

So I know what you are all asking, how am I doing in general (and if you weren't thinking that, well you're a sanke)? The answer is pretty decent. I've been enjoying the summer holidays and the glorious weather we have had. I am looking to sign up for an Open University course in Sport, Fitness and Management, as well as looking for another job. And no, not because I hate where I have been working, but because I want that element of flexibility - especially while studying. Oh yeah, I've also started looking at getting a property (if only it was as easy as Monopoly). There's no problem living with my mum and step-dad, but I need that freedom, that time and space to myself. I just can't believe how much is involved! I knew it was a challenge, but I think climbing Mount Everest would be easier at the moment!

I will leave you to continue your probably busy lives. In the meantime, I shall go and watch the Champions League final (I wonder if my prediction will be proven right).

And no, I do not write these every Monday and Friday, that's just when they get published. I write what I want, when I want to write it. Why? Well, why not?

Connor
