Premier League Matchday 4 Predictions

Chelsea v Crystal Palace

Chelsea have been very unpredictable so far, and were well and truly outplayed by West Brom in the first half last week. Palace have started well but I expect Chelsea to bounce back with a good performance and result. Chelsea's new signings are beginning to settle in, which will only help them for the season ahead.

Prediction 2-0

Everton v Brighton

The Toffees are absolutely flying at the moment and that is largely down to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who seems to be scoring for fun at the moment. Brighton have played well but have been very unlucky in recent weeks - that 100th minute penalty they conceded last week was farcical on so many levels. Even with a change in fortune, I think Everton will make it 4 wins from 4 games.

Prediction 2-0

Leeds v Manchester City

Leeds are still very much building a squad capable of competing in the Premier League, but one thing I can guarantee is they will not sit back and respect Manchester City like most teams do. Pep Guardiola's side were totally outclassed by Leicester last weekend, and I fear Leeds will get the backlash from that. Until Leeds tighten up at the back, they are unbackable in a game like this.

Prediction 1-3

Newcastle v Burnley

The Magpies have had a couple of lucky breaks recently, but they have deserved them for some decent performances. I don't think luck will be needed this time though. Burnley are all over the place and backing them to win a game at the moment is not an option.

Prediction 2-0

Leicester v West Ham

Leicester looked right back at their best when they hit 5 past Manchester City last week, albeit 3 of those came from the spot. West Ham also had a thumping win after hitting 4 past a very well drilled Wolves side. This should be an open and exciting game which will suit the pace of Jamie Vardy.

Prediction 2-1

Southampton v West Brom

The Saints finally went marching in last week after their first win of the season against Burnley. They played well that game too and look dangerous in attacking areas. That will not be good news for West Brom, who have conceded 11 goals in their first 3 games. Yes they got a point last week, but they still let in 3 goals. I do expect them to get a result here too.

Prediction 1-1

Arsenal v Sheffield United

Despite their defeat at Anfield on Monday, Arsenal stayed in that game for a long time and had some decent chances to score in the second half. Sheffield United have no goals and no points from their first 3 games, and I think both of those statistics will continue beyond this weekend.

Prediction 2-0

Wolves v Fulham

Wolves have looked alright this season but are not playing in the free-flowing way they usually do. The good thing for them is that they are playing the worst defence in the league. It might sound harsh, but there's more chance of a pre-Christmas Covid vaccine than of Fulham staying in the league.

Prediction 4-0

Manchester United v Tottenham

United's back four is a concern at the moment, but so is the lack of protection in front of it. Solskjaer needs to resolve that problem quickly, but I'm not sure that will help this weekend. Spurs have been on an unbeaten run since the opening day of the season, and hitting Maccabi Haifa for 7 in the Europa League midweek should give their forwards the boost they need.

Prediction 1-2

Aston Villa v Liverpool

Villa have started with 2 wins this season and 2 clean sheets which was their achilles heel last season. As a result of that, they can be more expansive at the other end of the pitch. Liverpool have made the perfect start to their title defence and I would be surprised if that changes at Villa Park
