Premier League Matchday 5 Predictions

Everton v Liverpool

Who would have thought that the home side would be top of the tree heading into this game? They have been simply superb so far. As had Liverpool until they shipped 7 at Villa Park. The one thing this game should have is goals, but I'm not so sure. I am going for a tight and cagey game, with another defeat for the champions.

Prediction 2-1

Chelsea v Southampton

Everything about this fixture points towards a home win. Chelsea, while still looking far from their best, are showing signs of improvement. Kai Havertz and Timo Werner look to be finding their feet which is something the Saints are yet to do this season. It would be result of the season so far if Southampton got the points here.

Prediction 3-0

Manchester City v Arsenal

Manchester City should have Raheem Sterling back after injury, and they need him because they are already well off the pace. Unfortunately for them Kevin De Bruyne will miss the game. Losing a player of that quality is always a huge loss. Arsenal haven't been at their best so far but are in the top 4. These are the games they would always lose, but I feel they might nick something here.

Prediction 1-1

Newcastle v Manchester United

Newcastle have been very hit and miss so far which we have come to expect from a Steve Bruce side. At least they look better at the back, which United can't say after shipping 6 against Spurs last time out. This might be a good time to play against them and I think Newcastle will capitalise on that.

Prediction 2-1

Sheffield United v Fulham

Both of these teams have lost all 4 of their opening games but have had different fortunes. United have only scored once so far while Fulham have already been opened up 11 times. Both of these teams will want to get off the mark this weekend, but I think only the hosts will.

Prediction 2-0

Crystal Palace v Brighton

Both of these sides have made a decent start to the season. Palace look very well organised defensively while Brighton are looking a constant threat going forward. This one looks tight on paper and I expect it to finish that way.

Prediction 1-1

Tottenham v West Ham

Tottenham will be hoping to give Gareth Bale his first start since he moved back to Spurs in the summer. They might need him because West Ham are on fire. David Moyes will be back in the dugout after recovering from coronavirus which will be another boost for them. Not only for that reason, I think the Hammers will get a point here.

Prediction 1-1

Leicester v Aston Villa

Last time the Foxes took to the pitch at the King Power they were blown away by West Ham and were lucky to only concede 3. Villa have surprised everyone - they have won all 3 games so far and beat Liverpool 7-2 before the international break. I think Villa will come crashing back down to Earth this weekend though.

Prediction 3-1

West Brom v Burnley

West Brom have only got the single point so far, but they have fought until the end in every game. This is a minimum requirement for a team sure to be in a relegation battle. Burnley, meanwhile, have lost every game so far and I don't see that changing this time out.

Prediction 1-0

Leeds v Wolves

Since their promotion from the Championship, I have been very impressed with Leeds. I think they will follow in the footsteps of Sheffield United last season and achieve a top half finish. Wolves are yet to click this season when everyone expected them to be a threat for a top 4 place. The obvious prediction here is a home win, so why not?
