Premier League Matchday 6 Predictions

Aston Villa v Leeds

I am genuinely shocked that Villa have won all 4 games in the league so far. They have looked very balanced all round and have been keeping clean sheets, something they did not do last season. Leeds in their own way have started well but I do not expect the home side's bubble to burst this weekend.

Prediction 2-1

West Ham v Manchester City

The Hammers were excellent against Spurs last week and thoroughly deserved their late equaliser. It was important for them to maintain the momentum they built before the international break. City were very lucky last time out and owe VAR a lot. However, it does show they can win without a number of key players. I think City will be too strong this time.

Prediction 1-2

Fulham v Crystal Palace

Where do I even begin with Fulham. Yes they have a point now but they look like passengers every time they concede the first goal in a game. On top of that, they are playing against a team in Palace who are playing well and scoring goals. I really am struggling to see how the hosts avoid another defeat.

Prediction 0-2

Manchester United v Chelsea

United have not played a good game in the league all season and should not have half the points that they do, although they had a superb win in Paris on Tuesday. Chelsea are scoring for fun but also conceding like there's no tomorrow. I am tempted to say this will be goalless, but it surely will finish all square.

Prediction 1-1

Liverpool v Sheffield United

The form of the Champions has halted in the past 2 games, and the long term absence of Virgil Van Dijk has surely dented their hopes of retaining their title. Sheffield United really have not started well - 1 point from 5 games is relegation form in any league. They will be fine though, even with a heavy defeat at Anfield.

Prediction 3-0

Southampton v Everton

Southampton have done alright so far this season but they do not look anything special. I think Ralph Hassenhuttl has probably done the best he can with the squad available to him. The visitors are flying high at the summit of the league and it is hard to imagine them losing top spot this weekend.

Prediction 1-2

Wolves v Newcastle

Wolves were a much improved side in their win at Elland Road on Monday and caused Leeds problems despite not playing at their free-flowing best. Newcastle should have got something against Manchester United but self-destructed in the final 10 minutes. I am expecting another tight game here, and another draw.

Prediction 1-1

Arsenal v Leicester

It will be interesting to see how these teams cope after their first Europa League adventure on Thursday. The Gunners have made a decent start and will feel rightly hard done by at the Etihad last time out. Leicester have turned it on in patches this season but look lacking any real creative spark. Due to a much more solid Gunners defence I am backing the home side here.

Prediction 2-0

Brighton v West Brom

On paper this looks like it could be a very poor game. Neither team has anyone who could light up a game, but this would be another decent point for the visitors. West Brom just need to keep picking up points in games like this and I expect them to hold firm again.

Prediction 0-0

Burnley v Tottenham

The Monday Night Football between Burnley and West Brom was quite simply awful. The goal keepers basically had the night off. Surely this will be more entertaining. We saw the best and worst of Spurs last week. Not only did they squander a 3 goal lead, but Gareth Bale submitted an early entry for miss of the season which would have sunk West Ham. I do think Spurs will win this time, but expect Burnley to be hard to break down as usual.

Prediction 0-2
