Premier League Matchday 7 Predictions

Wolves v Crystal Palace

Both of these teams like to play free-flowing, attacking football, so this should be a decent watch. Wolves were flat last weekend, but should still have beaten Newcastle. Palace have been reliant on Wilfred Zaha this season. When he plays well, Palace tend to win. Having said that, I think this one is too close to call.

Prediction 1-1

Sheffield United v Manchester City

The Blades really are up against it already this season with just a single point from their opening 6 games. They are in danger of being cut adrift and left with a mountain to climb. City themselves have not got going yet this season, and the news that Sergio Aguero has another injury is a huge blow for them. They will have too much this weekend though.

Prediction 0-2

Burnley v Chelsea

Burnley are another of those teams who seem to be really struggling. They are always difficult to break down, but this is at the cost of them creating chances and scoring goals. Chelsea are beginning to look like a decent outfit, and with all their summer signings settling in well, this could be a good season for them. I expect another win for them here.

Prediction 0-2

Liverpool v West Ham

I am interested to see who Jurgen Klopp plays at the back here. Virgil Van Dijk and Fabinho look to be out long term which will really test their title credentials. The Hammers have done well so far this season and have already secured draws against Manchester City and Spurs. This might be one ask too far, however.

Prediction 2-1

Aston Villa v Southampton

Aston Villa came crashing back down to Earth last week after getting thumped by Leeds. Until that, however, they had been very disciplined at the back and very hard to play against. Southampton had a very rare complete performance against league leaders Everton last weekend, but they might have to settle for a point here.

Prediction 1-1

Newcastle v Everton

The Magpies have played well this season and probably deserve more points than they have. Callum Wilson is playing well and has certainly given them more of an attacking threat. Everton were outplayed and outclassed last weekend, but remained top of the tree. After this weekend, however, they will not be sitting pretty at the summit.

Prediction 2-1

Manchester United v Arsenal

United seem to be firing on all cylinders in the Champions League, but can't get out of second gear in the Premier League. I feel very sorry for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal at the moment. They have had massive VAR decisions go against them in their last 2 games, neither of which they deserved to lose. They would be happier with a point from Old Trafford for sure.

Prediction 1-1

Tottenham v Brighton

Spurs have looked very good on the whole this season, but continue to do 'Spursy' things which is ultimately why they will not be challenging for the title. They will beat Brighton, though, who despite some good football are lacking in all areas of the pitch.

Prediction 2-0

Fulham V West Brom

Despite the fact we are only in October, this could be absolutely vital in the battle for survival come May. Fulham are leaking goals like a sieve. West Brom are only a couple of points better off, but they look up for the fight. That's why I am backing them this weekend.

Prediction 0-1

Leeds v Leicester

These teams both had fantastic wins last weekend - Leeds at Aston Villa and Leicester at Arsenal. The Foxes look like they are beginning to click into a higher gear. No disrespect to Leeds, but the only team who have really attacked them this season, Liverpool, hit 4 past them. Leicester will try and do the same, and I think they will be too strong for Marcelo Bielsa's team.

Prediction 1-2
