Premier League Matchday 8 Predictions

Brighton v Burnley

The Seagulls have been playing some good football of late without getting the results to back it up. The arrival of Adam Lallana has yet to have the impact Brighton supporters would have wanted. Burnley, without being too harsh, have been poor. The only hope they have is that they nick a few games by the odd goal. They do not look like beating anyone at the moment.

Prediction 2-0

Southampton v Newcastle

Southampton will become the 29th team to lead the Premier League with a win here. They have certainly been better recently, much helped by the goals of James Ward-Prowse. Having said that, Danny Ings will be a big miss. I don't think the Saints will hit the top tonight but they have certainly started the season very well.

Prediction 1-1

Everton v Manchester United

Everton, after a great start, come into this game off the back of a couple of disappointing defeats. They are facing a United team who have been outclassed by both Arsenal and Istanbul Baseksehir in the last week. Rumours are saying Mauricio Pochettino is ready and waiting, so the pressure is on Ole to win this one. If this game is going to decide his job then his tightrope could break.

Prediction 2-1

Crystal Palace v Leeds

The Eagles might not be soaring as highly as they would want to be, but that does not mean they do not play decent football. They are always capable of putting in that stella performance. Leeds let themselves down last week with a really poor defensive display and unless they put that right they will lose again here.

Prediction 2-1

Chelsea v Sheffield United

Chelsea are starting to look really good - Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech have all been wonderful signings. Even a bad Chelsea performance will win this game though. The Blades look very blunt at the moment and are finding goals very hard to come by. They need a miracle to win at Stamford Bridge.

Prediction 3-0

West Ham v Fulham

West Ham have been such a hard team to predict this season, having a couple of amazing results under their belt already. Fulham had their first win of the season on Monday against West Brom, but face a much better team at the London Stadium.

Prediction 2-0

West Brom V Tottenham

The Baggies have tried to be solid defensively this season to keep themselves in games, but they missed a trick on Monday. Yes it was away from home, but Fulham were there for the taking but West Brom showed them too much respect. Spurs will continue to do what they always do - win games they shouldn't and lose games they should win. I would, however, be surprised if they do not win at The Hawthorns.

Prediction 0-2

Leicester v Wolves

Brendan Rodgers will be delighted with this season so far. The Foxes are 3rd in the league and have 3 wins from 3 in the Europa League. I would fancy them to extend that good run against a Wolves side who are showing signs of improvement lately. Wolves fans were hoping the departure of Diogo Jota would not affect their attacking threat. Sadly it has.

Prediction 2-1

Manchester City v Liverpool

I do not want to call this game a title decider, but come May it could be. Last season Liverpool got so far ahead of City they could afford to lose a few games. A win here for City could blow the title race wide open. Gabriel Jesus will be back and will certainly test young Nat Phillips at the back for Liverpool. They are not as strong without Virgil Van Dijk.

Prediction 2-1

Arsenal v Aston Villa

The Gunners grinded out a fantastic win at Old Trafford last weekend and followed it up by hitting Molde for 4 in the Europa League. Villa, meanwhile, shipped 4 goals at home last weekend and it seems their early season form is beginning to fade. Any Villa frailties at the back will certainly be exploited by Aubameyang and co.

Prediction 2-1
