Premier League Matchday 12 Predictions
Leeds v West Ham
I have to admit I did not expect to enjoy watching Leeds, but I am. They are so direct and attack minded which is why they tend to score, and concede, goals. The Hammers are also a team who are very hard to predict, and have largely relied on their defence to keep them in games. I talk about going with your gut feeling in other blogs, and mine says a West Ham win.
Prediction 1-2
Wolves v Aston Villa
Wolves were well beaten by Liverpool last weekend. They started slowly and lost all shape defensively. That was surprising because they are usually very difficult to play against. Villa have had an extended break, but before that they had lost their early season form. While Villa will be competitive, I don't see them picking up a result.
Prediction 2-1
Newcastle v West Brom
Newcastle have also had an extended break which might have done them a favour. After a solid opening few games, they have began to slide towards the wrong end of the league. West Brom were well beaten with ten men last weekend, but before that had started looking more solid defensively. They need goals from someone other than Connor Gallagher, however, they still look short of an attacking threat.
Prediction 2-0
Manchester United v Manchester City
Which United will show up here? If the side from the first half of games turns up then they will lose. If their second half team turns up they could nick it. Going out of the Champions League at the group stage was a huge blow for them. City have breezed their group and are looking more of a dominant force in matches. These games are always so hard to call, so I will go for a share of the spoils.
Prediction 1-1
Everton v Chelsea
The Toffees have hit an indifferent patch, but with Richarlison back from suspension will be looking to climb the league again. Chelsea, for me, are favourites at the moment for the league. Their front line is scoring plenty of goals, and Edouard Mendy has made them much stronger at the back. Having said that, they might have to settle for a draw here.
Prediction 1-1
Southampton v Sheffield United
The Saints continue to march on up the league, and play some attractive football in the process. Sheffield United badly need a win - it's now just 1 point from 11 games. This would be as good as any other to win, however, I would be surprised if they did.
Prediction 2-0
Crystal Palace v Tottenham
The Eagles hit West Brom for five last time out and that should have given them a great deal of confidence up front. Tottenham won the North London derby, but to say they deserved it might be a stretch. They got their goals from the only attacks they had then parked the bus. Effective, but boring. Palace will try and play Spurs at their own game here, probably to no avail.
Prediction 1-2
Fulham v Liverpool
Fulham were lucky City were in a merciful mood last weekend - they should have shipped five or six easily. Despite having already won their group, Jurgen Klopp would have been disappointed by the draw with Midtylland in midweek, and will want a response. Sadly for Fulham, they will be bearing the brunt of that.
Prediction 0-4
Arsenal v Burnley
This could be a perfect game for both teams. Arsenal need a win and are playing against a side with only the single win all season. Burnley, while seeing this as a free hit, is a realistic chance to get something. The Gunners are very low on confidence at the moment, however, Burnley's will be lower.
Prediction 2-0
Leicester v Brighton
Leicester have had a bit of a mixed bag recently, but are still looking like they could pose a potential title challenge. Brighton have really struggled away at the top teams for a while and, despite the goal scoring form of Danny Welbeck, I think that trend will continue at the King Power.
Prediction 2-0
