Premier League Matchday 13 Predictions
Before I get into my predictions for this special midweek round of Premier League matches, I wanted to give you an update on the outstanding blog featuring the amazing Nuala. Work is continuing to ensure that nothing but the highest quality content is released for your enjoyment. I, along with Nuala, are in constant communication and we hope to have this for you in the very near future. Thank you for your patience.
Wolves v Chelsea
Both of these teams lost at the weekend, and both were beaten by a penalty in games that they deserved to take something from. It was the first sign of weakness from Chelsea, while Wolves will be desperate o bounce back following their derby defeat against Villa. This game might be a case of not wanting to start a losing streak.
Prediction 1-1
Manchester City v West Brom
City have certainly looked brighter now that Sergio Aguero has returned. They are playing more fluidly and are continuing to create more chances than the opposition. West Brom, while they fight in every minute, simply will not have the quality to hurt the blues here.
Prediction 3-0
Arsenal v Southampton
The Gunners are really struggling to create chances, score goals and win games at the moment. Aubameyang needs to re-find his confidence in front of goal if Arsenal are to start moving up the league. The Saints have been very solid recently and that is largely down to James Ward-Prowse who has been outstanding for Southampton so far.
Prediction 2-1
Leeds v Newcastle
Leeds' problem is that they do not put teams away when they are on top, as they found out against West Ham on Friday night. They face a Baggies outfit who are beginning to click into gear, and the rediscovered form of Dwight Gayle will only emphasise this. I am backing the home side to win here though.
Prediction 2-1
Leicester v Everton
These are two teams who are doing well towards the upper ends of the league. The Foxes have been up and down of late, while Everton handed Chelsea just their second league defeat of the season last time out. This one could be decided by the battle of the England strikers - Jamie Vardy and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Prediction 1-1
Fulham v Brighton
Fulham were excellent against Liverpool at the weekend, but they need the results more than the performances at the moment. Brighton are another team who are a bit hot and cold at the moment, and I think they will turn up here in this relegation six-pointer.
Prediction 1-2
Liverpool v Tottenham
Both of these teams struggled at the weekend in games they were expected to win comfortably. The hosts could go top by themselves with a win, but Jose Mourinho is very tactically astute in games like this. He will sit back and look to hit Liverpool on the break. However, I am backing the champions to win this top of the table clash.
Prediction 2-1
West Ham v Crystal Palace
A London derby between two teams who are playing well and are coming off the back of very good results at the weekend. Michail Antonio and Christian Benteke have been scoring a lot recently and this one could be decided by one of them. I see very little in this one so I will park myself once again on the fence.
Prediction 1-1
Aston Villa v Burnley
Villa should be full of confidence after getting an important win at Molineux at the weekend. They look such a transformed team compared to the one of last season. Burnley, meanwhile, are struggling to even get close to the opposition goal, and I can't see that changing at Villa Park.
Prediction 2-0
Sheffield United v Manchester United
At what point does a bad start turn into a crisis? In my opinion it already has. 1 point from a possible 36 is pushing Sheffield United firmly towards the Championship next season. They face a much improved Manchester United team, however, they have shown some defensive frailties lately, highlighted when they exited the Champions League at Leipzig. As much as I want the Blades to stay up, I can't see them picking anything up here.
Prediction 0-2
