Premier League Matchday 14 Predictions
Crystal Palace v Liverpool
Palace showed a lot of heart against Spurs last weekend, and should have beaten West Ham in midweek. They are not finishing teams off when they are on top. Liverpool will be delighted to have gone top with a win against Spurs during the week, especially when you think that they nearly lost it on a number of occasions. I fancy Palace for a draw here.
Prediction 1-1
Southampton v Manchester City
The Saints continue to perform well and pick up results, both at home and away. They face a City side here who stumbled against West Brom at home in the week and they will be desperate for a win to keep them within touch of the leaders. Southampton have only lost a handful of games this season, and I don't expect them to lose here.
Prediction 1-1
Everton v Arsenal
The home side have had a great week so far with wins against Chelsea and Leicester. This in many ways could be their easiest game, however, Arsenal showed a lot of heart and spirit in their midweek draw with Southampton, especially after they picked up another red card. A third win in a row here and Everton fans will be in dreamland.
Prediction 1-1
Newcastle v Fulham
Newcastle were well beaten at Leeds last time out, but they were right in the game for almost 70 minutes. Fulham have definitely tightened up at the back, but they now need to find that balance between attack and defence. Either way, the hosts will be too strong for them here.
Prediction 2-0
Brighton v Sheffield United
Brighton are struggling to get results from games, despite playing lots of very good football. New signings Danny Welbeck and Adam Lallana have both scored now, and are beginning make their mark on the team. The Blades played very well against Manchester United in the week, but suffered another defeat that they shouldn't have. Until they secure their first win, the vultures will continue to circle around them.
Prediction 1-0
Tottenham v Leicester
Spurs were knocked off top spot at Anfield on Wednesday night, but they can be very positive about their level of performance in the game. The Foxes continue to be hit and miss, and a home defeat against Everton last time out won't help them. You never know which Spurs team will turn up, and the same can be said about Leicester.
Prediction 2-1
Manchester United v Leeds
When the fixtures were released in August, this was one of the games I was excited about. The only thing missing will be the fans. United will be hoping to transfer their away form to Old Trafford, while Leeds will play their normal game which consists of direct attacking football. The visitors might fancy a result here, especially after hitting Newcastle for five last time out.
Prediction 2-2
West Brom v Aston Villa
This is a massive first game for new Baggies' boss Sam Allardyce, not just because it is a derby, but because Villa are doing so well. They picked up a crucial point at the Etihad in their last game, but I want them to be more expansive here. Villa will rightly be the favourites, but Sam Allardyce teams are notoriously difficult to play against.
Prediction 1-0
Burnley v Wolves
Burnley have been much better lately and have picked up clean sheets in their last two games. This is the sort of game they will want to win. Wolves continue to be the ultimate Jekyll and Hyde team this season, and I would expect them under normal circumstances to win this fixture.
Prediction 0-2
Chelsea v West Ham
Chelsea were looking like title favourites this time last week. Now, after back-to-back defeats, they are desperate for a win to keep pace with the leaders. They face a West Ham team who have been much harder to beat this season. David Moyes has done an excellent job, but is lacking that big win away at a top side. He might have to wait beyond this weekend, as I think Frank Lampard will be demanding a response.
Prediction 2-1
