Premier League Matchday 18 Predictions
Sheffield United v Newcastle
I don't want to state the obvious here, but the hosts need a win. They scraped past Bristol Rovers in the Emirates FA Cup at the weekend and just maybe that could get them going in the league. Newcastle are in the comforts of mid-table, but did have to play extra time in their cup tie at the weekend, so maybe fatigue could play a part. Either way, I think Chris Wilder will be reflecting on yet another defeat.
Prediction 1-2
Burnley v Manchester United
Sean Dyche will definitely be happier with the performances and results of his side recently. They are defending well and winning the games against relegation rivals. Manchester United are still unbeaten away from home in the league this season, and even if Solskjaer does make changes after the cup win, they should have enough here to win.
Prediction 0-2
Wolves v Everton
Both of these teams have impressed me this season with the brand of football they try and play. Wolves have found the consistency that had been missing for the start of the season, and Adama Traore being back among the goals will only help this. The Toffees are very enjoyable to watch also, and I think there is very little to split these two.
Prediction 1-1
Manchester City v Brighton
Pep Guardiola will be delighted at the moment. All of a sudden, City look favourites for the league because nobody else can put a run together. Everyone is scoring goals and their free-flowing football is causing even the best defences issues. Brighton have not enjoyed the festive period very much, and their start to the new year will not be very pleasant either.
Prediction 3-0
Tottenham v Fulham
Tottenham were due to travel to Villa Park for their midweek action, but due to an outbreak last week in the Villa camp, their game against Fulham has been rearranged. Spurs will be much happier with this fixture, as they face a side who can not stop shipping goals. The only downside for them is their inability to finish teams off. That won't be an issue here as Fulham seem unable to even compete with the better teams in the league. A home draw against Liverpool last month might give them a faint hope, but this could be a cricket score.
Prediction 3-0
Arsenal v Crystal Palace
Saka, Martinelli, Smith Rowe - what a breath of fresh air. They are fearless in their football and are really exciting Arsenal fans. I want to mention Kieran Tierney too, who in my opinion is the best left back in the league at the moment on current form. Palace have hit an erratic patch over the festive fixtures, and I can't see them putting that right here.
Prediction 2-0
