Premier League Matchday 20 Predictions

Crystal Palace v West Ham

The home side should be fresh and ready to go following a full week off. A real feature of their play lately has been their defensive resilience, although they perhaps expectedly came unstuck at the Etihad. West Ham had a big win in the FA Cup at the weekend, and I just have a feeling they could edge this London derby.

Prediction 1-2

Newcastle v Leeds

Steve Bruce and Newcastle are in a real hole at the moment. They have only drawn two of their previous ten league games, losing the rest. They have got some good individual players, but nothing is clicking for them as a team. Leeds will be unpredictable as ever, however, they will cause Newcastle a lot of problems going forward.

Prediction 0-2

Southampton v Arsenal

I think this will be a completely different game to the one at the weekend, mainly because Mikel Arteta will play a vastly different team. I would expect Aubameyang, Smith Rowe, Saka and Lacazette to all come in from the start. The Saints will fancy their chances, and rightly so, but I am going for a draw here.

Prediction 1-1

West Brom v Manchester City

The Baggies got a very respectable point at the Etihad last month, but since then they have been leaking goals like a sieve. Sam Allardyce must be starting to accept that a relegation is on the cards, barring a miracle. City are starting to click into top gear, and will go top if they win their game in hand. In terms of this game, how many?

Prediction 0-5

Burnley v Aston Villa

Burnley seem to be hitting a good spell of form at the moment, and slowly but surely they are climbing away from the relegation places. They face an Aston Villa side who continue to be steady in the middle of the league. This game means a lot more to Burnley, and therefore I expect them to get something from this one.

Prediction 1-1

Chelsea v Wolves

This is such a hard game to call because neither team have impressed me in the league recently. I said just a couple of months ago Chelsea were title contenders. Now I do not think they will even get top 4. Wolves will finish somewhere around mid-table, but continue to look a shadow of themselves from previous seasons.

Prediction 1-1

Brighton v Fulham

Brighton must be getting very frustrated - they keep putting in decent performances without getting any rewards. Fulham, meanwhile, made wholesale changes for their cup tie at the weekend. The manager always puts more pressure on the team when he does that, because if they do not win then the manager has thrown a cup game for nothing. A Fulham win here is not unthinkable, but also not likely.

Prediction 2-1

Everton v Leicester

I am really looking forward to watching this game. These are two teams who love to attack and have lots of excellent players - as well as very good tacticians in charge. Everton will still believe they can qualify for the Champions League, while Leicester will still have ambitions of lifting another Premier League trophy.

Prediction 2-2

Manchester United v Sheffield United

Everything about this game points to a home win. Manchester United are looking very good at the moment, but I still think they will fall short in the title race. Sheffield United are not being helped by other results at the moment, and they are falling further adrift with every week that passes. Surely this is another question of how many will Manchester United score?

Prediction 3-0

Tottenham v Liverpool

Spurs should be a lot closer to the top of the league - they would be if they played for 90 minutes rather than just 70. They have a big opportunity here to close the gap on one of their big rivals, and I can see that happening. Liverpool lost against Burnley last week and crashed out of the cup at the weekend. Jurgen Klopp is hardly under pressure, but they need to start winning games. It is surely unimaginable to think Liverpool will miss out on the top 4?

Prediction 2-1
