Premier League Matchday 26 Predictions
Manchester City v West Ham
The home side are certainly looking like champions at the moment after yet another win last weekend - I forget how many that is in a row but it is a run that has, in my opinion, decided the title. They will be tested against the Hammers - remember they beat Spurs in their last game and are just outside the top 4. However, I don't think West Ham will get a result here.
Prediction 2-0
West Brom v Brighton
This is a massive game for both of these teams, but particularly for West Brom. Looking at the fixtures they have to come, you feel this is almost a must win game for them. The good thing here is Brighton do not score many goals, which should give the Baggies a chance. Brighton will be wondering how they lost to Palace in their last game - they could be asking similar questions here.
Prediction 1-0
Leeds v Aston Villa
This is a battle between two teams who are massively surpassing everyone's expectations this season. Last campaign, they were newly promoted and last day survival teams respectively. The main reason for their successes have been Patrick Bamford and Ollie Watkins, who have both shown they belong in the top league. They will both fancy getting on the score sheet this time.
Prediction 2-2
Newcastle v Wolves
This time a fortnight ago, Newcastle were 10 points clear of the relegation zone and were pushing towards the upper half. A combination of their poor form and Fulham's impressive run means that cushion is now only 3 points. I can see them getting something here, though, against a Wolves side of continue to be consistently inconsistent.
Prediction 1-1
Crystal Palace v Fulham
Fulham will be excited by this game because on paper it looks like another winnable fixture. Palace were far from their best at Brighton midweek, but got the win thanks to a Christian Benteke screamer in added time. Roy Hodgson will demand his team to control the game against their relegation-threatened rivals, and I think they will edge it.
Prediction 2-1
Leicester v Arsenal
For Brendan Rodgers to say he isn't bothered about being knocked out of the Europa League is a disgrace. Any competition should be respected, especially a European one. Arsenal showed how much the competition means to them - what a superb display of character against Benfica! Even though the Gunners should be on a high, I think Vardy will get his goal against them as usual.
Prediction 1-1
Tottenham v Burnley
Spurs have a fully refreshed team for this one - that is the luxury that comes with scoring 4 away goals in the first leg. Regardless of that, I think they will win this one. Burnley will sit back, stay compact in shape and look to take their chances on the break, but I think Spurs' quality will shine in the end.
Prediction 2-0
Chelsea v Manchester United
This fixture will surely have massive implications on the top 4 race this season. Chelsea are still unbeaten under Tuchel and they are controlling games with ease. However, there is something about United in the past few games - they have found their shooting boots and the goals are flying in again. This might well be Tuchel's first setback in the Premier League.
Prediction 1-2
Sheffield United v Liverpool
Even if Sheffield United pull off a miracle and win this, they are still going down. I will focus on Liverpool for this one who desperately need a league win - particularly after losing the Merseyside derby last time out. A top 4 without the reigning champions is unthinkable, especially a side with so much quality in it. Surely Liverpool can't lose against an all but relegated team can they?
Prediction 0-2
Everton v Southampton
Last week's win at Anfield was Carlo Ancelotti's highlight since he took over at Goodison Park - the first time they have won there this century! Having said that, they have to follow it up with another win. Southampton will be concerned by how quickly they have lost their form and are sliding down the table. With Fulham's resurgent form, the Saints might want to win a couple of games quickly to avoid a relegation scrap themselves comes May.
Prediction 2-1
