Premier League Matchday 28 Predictions

Newcastle v Aston Villa

Newcastle are now only above the relegation zone on goal difference, but all that matters to them is to win games. They are clearly struggling without Miguel Almiron or Callum Wilson available. Villa might have Jack Grealish back available for selection which will be a huge boost for them, however, I think Newcastle will get something here.

Prediction 1-1

Leeds v Chelsea

This is al set up to be a typical Leeds game - they score lots but concede more. Already this season, they have conceded at least 4 against Manchester United, Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Leicester and Liverpool because of the way they play. I would expect them to be tighter at home, but Chelsea are still undefeated under Thomas Tuchel and I can't see that changing here.

Prediction 1-3

Crystal Palace v West Brom

Palace are stuttering towards the end of the season but should have enough already to see them enjoy another season in the top flight. West Brom, however, got a decent draw last weekend but it was another game they really needed to, and should have, won. They will always be competitive but I don't think they have the players to strike the balance between attack and defence.

Prediction 2-0

Everton v Burnley

Everton seem to have found another spell of good form after a sticky patch threatened to derail their season. They have been one of the more unpredictable teams this season because they always seem to slip up in games they are expected to win. Burnley have had a lot of draws recently and have been sucked back into the relegation battle. They need wins but I can't see them winning at Goodison.

Prediction 2-0

Fulham v Manchester City

Fulham's revival has not only given them genuine hope of staying up this season, but it has also made the bottom of the league look a lot more interesting. They are playing their free flowing football at the moment but they can not do that against Pep Guardiola's side. They need to sit in and make themselves hard to beat, but even then I am backing City to score a hatful.

Prediction 0-3

Southampton v Brighton

Southampton's win at Brammall Lane last week was massive and has given them some breathing room to the teams below them. James Ward-Prowse seems to be winning games at the moment - when he scores they win. This is a huge game for Brighton. Not only is it a derby against their local rivals, but a defeat could see them in the bottom three by close of play.

Prediction 1-1

Leicester v Sheffield United

Brendan Rodgers keeps saying that Leicester have a lot of injuries at the moment. That may be true, but other teams have as well who are playing well. They looked assured of a top four finish not that long ago, but now it looks like they are trying to hang on until the end of the season. Sheffield United, meanwhile, are now surely just playing for pride.

Prediction 2-0

Arsenal v Tottenham

Possibly the most significant North London derby in years, and it will be 10th against 8th in the league. Arsenal have been hit and miss recently in the league, while Spurs are improving but still are not dominating games the way we are used to seeing. Both teams have comfortable leads in the Europa League and that realistically is the best chance they have of Champions League football for next season. In terms of this game, I don't think either manager will want to lose it, which might mean it is not the greatest game in the world.

Prediction 1-1

Manchester United v West Ham

This last week has summed up the whole season for Manchester United. They were superb in the derby last week and fully deserved their win, yet they were shocking on Thursday against AC Milan and were lucky to come away with a draw. They face a very consistent and in-form West Ham side who must be starting to believe that a top four place could be theirs this season.

Prediction 1-1

Wolves v Liverpool

This is a tale of two sides who are hugely underachieving this season; Wolves because they are in the bottom half and Liverpool because they might not even get a Europa League spot for next season. Yes Liverpool had a decent result in the week, but Leipzig had to go for it because of the result in the first leg. Honestly, I think Wolves will win this.

Prediction 2-1
