Premier League Matchday 29 Predictions

Chelsea v West Brom

Sooner or later the Blues will lose a game under Thomas Tuchel, but it would be a massive surprise if it was against the Baggies. Chelsea have found a way of playing that allows them to control the game and create enough chances to win them. Sam Allardyce has never been relegated as a manager before but surely that is about to change. They will take pride in the fact they were 3-0 up on their opponents in the reverse fixture, but they threw it away which has summed up their season.

Prediction 3-0

Leeds v Sheffield United

Leeds are safe from the drop and are going to finish comfortably in mid-table, but Marcelo Bielsa will still expect a professional level of performance. They will keep playing their attacking style of football and they should get a lot of chances here. Sheffield United will surely sit back and try to absorb pressure, but they are not good enough defensively to keep the hosts at bay.

Prediction 2-0

Leicester v Manchester City

Brendan Rodgers will be looking over his shoulder and must be getting worried about his side throwing away the top four place that they currently have. Injuries have hit them hard in crucial areas, but their performance level since the turn of the year hasn't been up to their high standards. City are once again chasing a historic quadruple and a win here would surely seal at least one trophy for them this season.

Prediction 1-2

Arsenal v Liverpool

This should be an interesting game with both sides playing a European quarter final in just a few days time. Liverpool need to win to keep the pressure on Chelsea in 4th position, while the Gunners must e thinking now that the Europa League is their only chance of European football next season. I expect this to be a tight game but without the high quality you would usually expect from this fixture. Both teams would argue it is a good time to play each other.

Prediction 1-1

Southampton v Burnley

Southampton's win just before the International window has given them that extra comfort that they desperately needed. Burnley, meanwhile, left off in fine form and they have virtually played themselves to safety. While this might not be the most entertaining game this weekend, a win for either will almost certainly mean another season of Premier League football.

Prediction 1-1

Newcastle v Tottenham

The pressure is really beginning to mount on Newcastle manager Steve Bruce with his side just above Fulham in the final relegation place. They are in desperate need of a win, and this might be a good time to play Tottenham. They were in awful form before the break and now the Carabao Cup final later this month looks to be the only way of success this season.

Prediction 1-1

Aston Villa v Fulham

This is definitely a bigger game for Fulham who are now within a couple of points of moving out of the relegation zone. The only thing that works against them is after this, which by the way is not easy, they have a rotten run of games where I am struggling to see where a point will come from let alone a win. Villa might not have the same intensity as Fulham, but they will have Jack Grealish back which could be the difference in this game.

Prediction 2-1

Manchester United v Brighton

On paper, this looks like the biggest banker of the weekend in my opinion. Brighton seem to be competitive until they go behind and then seem to have no answers. Manchester United have a European game on Thursday night, although they definitely got lucky by drawing Granada. Solskjaer can afford to play his first team here as they look to secure a top four finish, and keeping Brighton in trouble in the process.

Prediction 3-0

Everton v Crystal Palace

This game sees two teams with really nothing to play for face off. These kind of games at this stage of the season are often slow, dull and not very high quality. Hopefully the attacking talent on display here, particularly in the Everton ranks, can provide a decent game. As the table shows, there is not much between these two and I think that will be reflected in the scoreline.

Prediction 1-1

Wolves v West Ham

As with the Everton game, neither of these sides are going anywhere at the end of the season, although West Ham still have serious hopes of finishing in a European spot. The concern with West Ham is how they let a 3-0 lead slip against Arsenal in their last game. That was the first sign of nerves the Hammers have shown all season. Wolves can definitely exploit any nerves the Hammers might have here, although their season, in truth, has never really looked like taking off.

Prediction 1-1
