Premier League Matchday 30 Predictions

Fulham v Wolves

A poor recent run of results and a daunting fixture list coming up after this weekend really puts emphasis on Fulham picking up a win. I fancy them to dominate most of the game but they have to turn that into chances and goals. Wolves have been improved of late but with nothing to play for I will question the intensity of their performances for the rest of the season. Even so, I can't see Fulham taking al the points here.

Prediction 1-1

Manchester City v Leeds

When these teams met at Elland Road earlier in the season, it was an absolutely captivating game that could have gone either way. This game will be totally different however. City have well and truly found their stride and need just a few more wins to wrap up the title. Leeds will be Leeds and attack when they can, but in all honesty they need to get the ball first which is usually an issue for visiting teams to the Etihad.

Prediction 3-0

Liverpool v Aston Villa

The reverse fixture has to go down as one of the craziest results in Premier League history, but I can confidently say Villa will not win this one 7-2! Liverpool need to strike a balance between winning this to keep their top four chances alive and resting players to overturn a 3-1 deficit against Real Madrid. I can't see the latter one happening which makes the former a must.

Prediction 2-0

Crystal Palace v Chelsea

Selhurst Park is one of the grounds where fans have been missed more than most. The hostility is usually a real advantage for their players and Chelsea will not fear this as much as usual. As poor as they were against West Brom last time out, they brushed Porto aside with a degree of comfort. I expect this to be more of a challenge but I still fancy Chelsea to get the win here.

Prediction 1-2

Burnley v Newcastle

For me this game is very simple; a win for Burnley keeps them up and a win for Newcastle should keep them up. Due to what is at stake, this might not be a very good game. Both Sean Dyche and Steve Bruce will deep down be satisfied with a point because it pushes Fulham nearer to the drop. If anyone is going to win this it will be Burnley because of Chris Wood but honestly I am struggling to see a goal here.

Prediction 0-0

West Ham v Leicester

If you had said to me that these teams would be in the top four when we hit the 30 game mark, I might have gone with Leicester at a stretch but that's it. This is now a massive game with both sides desperate to hang on to what they have. West Ham need to tighten up a bit at the back - 5 goals in the last game and a half is not good enough, and Leicester just need to grind their way to the finish line. If there will be a winner here I am backing the home side.

Prediction 2-1

Tottenham v Manchester United

The result when these teams met at Old Trafford, a 6-1 Spurs win, was nothing short of a nightmare for United. Things will be tighter this time but I actually expect the same result. Spurs need to finish in the top four otherwise it will be another disappointing season for Mourinho. United should be alright in their Europa League game against Granada having scored 2 away goals on Thursday night, but if both these teams perform how they can I think Spurs are stronger.

Prediction 2-1

Sheffield United v Arsenal

I really feel for the Sheffield United players - how demoralising taking to the pitch every single week knowing it is just a matter of time. From the outside, it appears to be a very unhappy camp and nobody really wants the play the remaining nine fixtures. Arsenal, meanwhile, will be hurting from the 94th minute away goal they conceded in the Europa League. I would not blame Mikel Arteta if he played a second string side here - they absolutely must get through in Prague next week. That is why I think this could be the perfect game for them.

Prediction 1-2

West Brom v Southampton

It should not be underestimated how massive that huge win at Stamford Bridge could be for West Brom. They need to follow it up with another win at home and then people can really start talking about a great escape. Southampton will not make things easy for them - everyone is playing for an FA Cup semi-final place next weekend. There is something about West Brom's spirit which I like and it would be no surprise to me if they did win here.

Prediction 2-1

Brighton v Everton

Brighton should in theory be well safe by now with the quality of football they have played this season. What has let them down has been putting the ball in the net. None of their strikers have scored enough goals but I think they will be alright this season. Everton are one of many teams who are still pushing for a top four spot. They can definitely achieve that but they have to be winning games like this.

Prediction 0-2
