Premier League Matchday 33 Predictions

Southampton v Leicester

Leicester look like they have done enough to hold onto a top four finish which would be an amazing achievement for them this season. Kelechi Iheanacho for so long has been in Jamie Vardy's shadow but he has more than taken his chance and looks to have secured his side Champions League football next season. Southampton were awful when these teams met at Wembley recently and will definitely want to prove a point, but the Foxes will be too strong again.

Prediction 1-2

Crystal Palace v Manchester City

There are some question marks surrounding the future of Roy Hodgson that I really do not understand. He has guided Palace to a comfortable mid-table finish which is surely the best they can be hoping for. City, meanwhile, are just a couple of wins away from the league and might have half an eye on the second leg against PSG on Tuesday. They have such a large group of talent to pick from though and I expect them to maintain their good form.

Prediction 0-2

Brighton v Leeds

The Seagulls look safe enough at the moment but that is only because teams below them can't win a game at the moment. They're just one win away from securing their Premier League status for next season but I can not see that coming against Leeds. A top half finish looks more than likely for them and that would represent a great first season back in the top flight. They will definitely fancy their chances on the South coast too.

Prediction 1-2

Chelsea v Fulham

Chelsea will be happy coming into this game of the back of a good draw in Madrid, although they should be disappointed they did not win the game because they were by far the better team. If there is such a thing as a home banker in football, this is it. Fulham have had their chances lately but added time goals they have conceded against Wolves and Arsenal have really halted their momentum and now it is surely just a matter of time before their relegation is confirmed.

Prediction 3-0

Everton v Aston Villa

This is a game between two teams who have exceeded what I expected from them at the start of the season. Everton still have ambitions of qualifying for the Champions League while Villa, despite only surviving last season on the final day, are pushing for a top half finish. This game should be entertaining but the continued absence of Jack Grealish continues to cause Villa an issue.

Prediction 2-1

Newcastle v Arsenal

Steve Bruce seems to have guided the Toon to safety despite coming under a lot of pressure from the fans. When you look at the squad he has and who he has been without recently, he has done a very good job. They were unlucky not to get a win at Anfield last week too. Arsenal got a potentially crucial away goal in the Europa League on Thursday night and Arteta will want to give Lacazette and Tierney some minutes here so that they are fit for the second leg.

Prediction 1-2

Manchester United v Liverpool

The good news for Manchester United is that they are guaranteed to finish second in the league barring a monumental collapse. The even better news is that they secured their place in the Europa League final by thrashing Roma 6-2 in the first leg of their semi-final. As for Liverpool, even a UEFA Conference League place is looking in doubt for next season. That would be a disaster for the club and surely serious questions would be asked of Jurgen Klopp. As for this weekend, though, I have a feeling this one will end up all square.

Prediction 1-1

Tottenham v Sheffield United

Ryan Mason will take temporary charge of Spurs until the end of the season, but surely he will not get it on a full time basis. They need someone who can really get the best out of a very talented group of players. Their performance at Wembley was disgraceful and I really feel for the fans who were allowed in to watch it. There is not much to say about Sheffield United apart from there are a lot of players who have five games to earn the shirt for next season.

Prediction 3-0

West Brom v Wolves

When West Brom won at Molineux earlier in the season, it gave Sam Allardyce his first win as Baggie's manager. Despite some good performances and the stand-out result at Chelsea, they have never built up momentum where you thought they had a realistic chance. Wolves are fading rapidly and their 4-0 defeat against Burnley last week was almost a sign that they were already on the beach. I would not be surprised if they lost again here.

Prediction 2-1

Burnley v West Ham

The way Burnley ripped through Wolves last weekend was seriously impressive and unexpected. That should give them the lift they need to finish the season on a positive note. West Ham will feel very hard done by last weekend after having Balbuena sent off for literally clearing the ball. They have to put that to the back of their minds now and make sure they win every game. If they do that then I expect them to finish in the top four.

Prediction 0-2
