Premier League Midweek Predictions
These fixtures were moved from the weekend due to teams participating in the FA Cup semi-finals:
Chelsea v Brighton
Chelsea were by far the better team in their game at Wembley and will surely fancy lifting at least one trophy this season. Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech stole the show and ran rings around the Manchester City back four. Brighton will be boosted by Fulham's late concession yesterday; even with a defeat here they will still have a healthy cushion in their bid to avoid the drop.
Prediction 2-0
Tottenham v Southampton
Jose Mourinho's sacking on Monday morning was surprising to me. He was appointed to win trophies and they part ways with him a week before the Carabao Cup final. I can not imagine this was a snap decision so surely they have someone waiting in the wings, although it seems that Ryan Mason will take the team for this game. The Saints were below par at Wembley and never really looked like making it to the final. Mourinho's departure leads me to fancy the visitors to get a result here.
Prediction 1-1
Aston Villa v Manchester City
Aston Villa will be facing a wounded animal here after City's hopes of a historic quadruple were ended at Wembley at the weekend. It will be how little they created that will be the worrying for the Pep though. They have to respond here because they are just a week away from facing PSG and they need momentum going into that game. Villa have performed well against the top teams this season, and although I am backing the visitors, I expect them to at least be competitive.
Prediction 1-2
Leicester v West Brom
The Foxes are in their first cup final in over 50 years, however, attention must now switch to their league form; they are in a dog fight for a top four finish with at east six teams still fighting for third and fourth spot. They should win this, although West Brom have won two in a row and scored 8 goals during that period. Unfortunately for them, results have gone against them since they last played. All things considered, this should be a home win.
Prediction 2-0
