Premier League Matchday 36 Predictions

Newcastle v Manchester City

This is the first of many games across the next week with nothing riding on it for either team. Newcastle will be relieved to have secured survival last weekend and the big question now is do they stick with Steve Bruce in the summer or look to bring in someone who can propel them higher up the league. Manchester City will be wanting to take momentum into the Champions League final later this month and they should not have much problem here.

Prediction 0-3

Burnley v Leeds

A few months ago, people were criticising Sean Dyche when it looked like Burnley might be in trouble of going down. However, once again he has showed his class as a manager and steered them to safety for another season. I do wonder though if Burnley fans are soon going to get fed up of finishing 17th and will call for a change? Leeds have had a wonderful season and a win here would go a long way to securing a top half finish for them.

Prediction 1-1

Southampton v Fulham

I thought the Saints were a little unlucky at Anfield in their last game when they could easily have left with a draw. Despite that, they are safe for another season. Danny Ings will, I'm sure, be in demand again and they might have to offer an increased pay packet to keep him. Fulham look as if they might stick with Scott Parker which I think gives them the best chance of bouncing straight back next season.

Prediction 2-0

Brighton v West Ham

Graham Potter has done a great job with the Seagulls and actually 17th does not reflect the season they have had. They have been very well organised and just missed too many chances. The Hammers, meanwhile, will be encouraged by Chelsea's defeat in the week. If they can win their last three games, which are all winnable for them, they could just sneak into the top four.

Prediction 1-2

Crystal Palace v Aston Villa

In all honesty, both of these teams have been safe since before Christmas. Neither have really threatened a European place and have just been going about their business week after week. Both sets of supporters will be satisfied with the season I'm sure, but the one thing neither have had this season is consistency. I am backing Villa here just because of Jack Grealish's return but it could go either way.

Prediction 1-2

Tottenham v Wolves

What looked like it could be a magical season for Spurs has turned into yet another flop. Once again they will not be winning a trophy and they might not even make the Europa League - would Spurs fans be happy playing Conference League football next season? Wolves have definitely improved in recent weeks and I fancy them to nick a point here.

Prediction 1-1

West Brom v Liverpool

Sam Allardyce has finally been relegated as a manager and now the question is are they going to keep him. The challenge for West Brom is they have some very good players who will want to stay in the Premier League, tempting other teams into bidding for them. Liverpool's win at Old Trafford last night has meant that three wins for them could see them finish in an unlikely looking Champions League place. They have dropped points against teams like West Brom this season, although I can't see that happening again.

Prediction 0-3

Everton v Sheffield United

Everton's draw against Aston Villa has ended their hopes of Champions League football, but they still have a chance to qualify for Europe which would constitute a very good season for Carlo Ancelotti. They are another team that have lacked consistency this season. Sheffield United have been very consistent this season, consistently awful. It actually wouldn't surprise me if they won here but I am backing the home side.

Prediction 2-0
